About Us

We are a competitive VEX Robotics team from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

We work together throughout the season to design, build, program and compete. We are an inclusive club that bring together youth from a number of Vancouver Island communities. Our team members possess a wide range of skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Programming (STEM), to form a cooperative, comprehensive and competitive robotics team.










2017-18 Season

The 7842 Navigators robotics team had an exceptional 2017-18 season, once again sending our teams to the VEX Worlds Competition in Louisville, Kentucky! This was their second consecutive year having earned placement at Worlds, and with help from our sponsors, families and friends, we are hopeful to make this the 3rd season in a row sending a group to participate in this world-class competition.

This season, we are excited to have many experienced team members returning and even higher numbers of new members joining the team as well. With this mix of skill and leadership, coupled with fresh excitement and enthusiasm, we’re hoping to earn another spot (or maybe more!) at The Worlds competition in the spring of 2019.


What Is VEX?

VEX Robotics is an educational program designed for students in middle school, high school and college programs who are interested in the world of technologies, specifically STEM and STEAM. VEX Robotics is designed to teach students about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math all in a fun, interesting, and motivating way that allows them to build and program whatever they wish.

Community Outreach

The 7842 Navigators are very active in the community. From running outreach summer camps to demonstrating our robots at various venues, we help inspire and interest community members in STEM learning.


Over the last couple months, we have been preparing Vex V5 programming tutorials for the VEX Community. These tutorials cover many topics useful for VEX teams, for learning, guidance, and reference. These tutorials aim to bring the bar of programming expertise up by explaining some of the things overlooked by some of the official documentations. They also aim to teach programming concepts and good programming practice.
